Sir Hugh, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Managing Director of Bristol Siddeley Engines, Bristol had recommended a non circular shaped coin to the board.
The new coin will go into circulation in October 1969 and replace the ten shilling note. 9th May 1968
