Suez Crisis 1956
In order to relieve the boredom that was the inevitable result of the ceasefire the men of C Squadron, 6th Royal Tank Regiment, decided to have a boat race. The race took place over a 400 yard course in boats made out of whatever the men could find. Of the six which started the race only three crossed the finish line - the others overturning or sinking in rough seas. The winning boat " Bubbles" is seen here wth its crew Don Jones, Tony Thacker, Eric Payne and Joe Fisher 1956
