Viewers of BBC TV childrens programme Blue Peter buy a hospital truck for West

Viewers of BBC TV childrens programme Blue Peter buy a hospital truck for West Africa - with wool. A fully equipped hospital truck to help save the lives of starving children in West Africa pictured at BBC Television Studio. It was paid for in cotton socks, mini-skirts, scarves etc. by children all over Britain. Three weeks ago Blue Peter appealed to its young viewers to send in enough wool and cotton to pay for the " surgery on wheels". Pictured, left to right, Valerie Singleton, John Noakes (top) and Peter Purves (flowered tie) with Petra sitting on the truck. 30th December 1968
