The staff of Ormesby Secondary School in Stockwith Close decided to Go Ape in aid of guide dogs for the blind, 9th December 1982.
Headmaster Phillip Willis appeared on stage as a robber to be bundled off in the long arms of the science department, dressed up as police officers for the day.
The gorilla, Charlie Chaplin, Snowman and ugly dames hoped to raise more than 250 pounds from the performance.
The dressing up has become an annual event, the kids each made a donation as they left the assembly hall.
