De-compression maternity suit. Mrs Jane Sparkes, 22, in the de-compression maternity suit
De-compression maternity suit. Mrs Jane Sparkes, 22, in the de-compression maternity suit during treatment. Jane Sparkes gets her first taste of the birth suit. Jane gave up her job as a nurse when she became pregnant six months ago. She is expecting her first baby. Janes reaction to the suit: " It felt marvellous". This experimental suit is still in the pioneer stage. It was put together by engineer Neil Evans using a domestic vacuum cleaner, cycle wheel runs, dress zips, elastic trouser supports and a length of plastic. The suit lifts pressure off the womb. The hope is to produce a highly intelligent child. 21st April 1967
