Outside the candidates wait patiently in the hope that they will be paired off with someone in whose company they can enjoy the pleasures of the villages famous tunnel of love. This love and marriage campaign started way back in 1903 when the village had a surplus of luckless spinsters, so a marriage tea was arranged to give them a helping hand.
