Framed Print of Six-year-old Tony Wood of Swanscombe, Kent, has a disability and is learning to walk

Six-year-old Tony Wood of Swanscombe, Kent, has a disability and is learning to walk, and now he has a pal to go on his walks too. On the ATV programme Slaters Bazaar John Slater told viewers he wanted to find a home for a Beagle pup and invited viewers to give a reason why they should be chosen. His father, Harold Wood, wrote that his boy was only just learning to use his legs and thought a puppy trotting ahead would spur him on. Tony has named the pup Bimbo after the ambulance driver who takes him for treatment at Gravesend Hospital. 15th July 1957. © Mirrorpix
