In July 1933, Amy Molllison (formerly Amy Johnson)and her husband Jim Mollison flew their De Haviiland DH.84 Dragon aircraft named Seafarer, nonstop from Pendine Sands, South Wales across the Atlantic Ocean destined for Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York, in the United States.
However, their aircraft ran out of fuel and crash-landed at Bridgeport Municipal Airport in Stratford, Connecticut; both were injured.
Here Amy Mollison thanks the crowd for their welcome when she and her husband Jim arrived at Pendine Sands before the flight.
