Dirrell Moss and his family. Mr Moss is a house painter by trade
Dirrell Moss and his family. Mr Moss is a house painter by trade and lives in the Jonestown district of Kingston. With no regular work in Jamaica for Dirrel he has decided to emigrate with his family to the United Kingdom.
In 1961 some 30, 000 Jamaicans journeyed to Britain in search of work, wealth and happiness.
Now in 1962 the flood tide has reduced to a trickle due to the introduction of the Commonwealth Immigrants Act. A limited number only are allowed in - and these must have a vouchers issued by the British Government.
Dirrell and his family have been lucky and have been approved as immigrants and will soon be leaving their single storey shack home in Jonestown, Jamaica to journey to London. 2nd August 1962
