Saudi Arabian Majdi Mahmood M. Khan leaves the North-east
Saudi Arabian Majdi Mahmood M. Khan leaves the North-east and flies home tomorrow a fully-fledged airport fireman. The 19-year-old junior officer, pictured second right, is now qualified to tackle aviation emergencies under the hot sun of his homeland. He learned his trade at an often cold and damp Teesside Airport. Among the guests at the passing-out ceremony was the chief training officer of Saudi Arabias civil aviation department, Suleiman Al-Ghanam, left, school superintendent Mr Peter Villiers-Tuthill, right, the Cas Chief Fire Service Officer, Mr Bob Hayward, second left. The training was set up after a special request from the Saudi Arabian government. 7th March 1984
