The Tunnel End canal and countryside centre at Standedge has opened a new scented garden

The Tunnel End canal and countryside centre at Standedge has opened a new scented garden especially for blind and partially-sighted visitors. Kirklees council staff worked with Huddersfield Pennine Rotary Club to provide the garden, which may be extended later. Rotarians opened the garden with the help of Huddersfield Blind Society. Club president Mr Charles Taylor is pictured in the garden with Mr Eric Stokes, of Outlane. Behind are Mr John Sykes, Blind Society president, and member Miss Agnes Knight. 13th October 1991
