For years this fine Ironstone mining ambulance housedchickens
For years this fine Ironstone mining ambulance housedchickens. But now it has been restored to its former glory and given a place of pride in Skinningroves Tom Leonard Mining Museum. The horse-drawn ambulance driven here by Lesley Fall, once worked Durham pits before coming to the ironstone mine at Brotton as late as 1938. It was restored by trainees at ICI Wilton after the ambulance was found by Tom Leonard in a garden at Saltburn, it was once used as a chicken coup. 25th april 1984
