A thriving BMX club is hoping some heavyweight help will roll up to prepare the track for a big event, 18th July 1986. About 20 tonnes of fine dolomite is being spread on the Cleveland clubs circuit at Redcar Racecourse, but they haven t got a roller to flatten it. And with 700 riders expected next month for the first live TV coverage of BMX in Britain, the club is desperate to enlist help. " We have an arrangement with Tyne Tees Television to show races on 8th August" said Press officer Brian Atkinson. " We must be ready for that, but it seems impossible to lay hand on one of these motorised rollers"
