An RAF Spitfire fighter plane after being refurbished by British Aerospace apprentices and staff after it had stood for years as a gate guard at RAF Bawdry in Wales.
The Spitfire PS915 was handed over to the RAF in full flying operational condition after three years work on the machine.
Pictured are two of the fitters ridingm on the tailplane of the aircraft on its way up too the runway for take off. The plane is nise-heavy and needs " ballast" to keep the tail-plane down as it taxis.
