The Mardi Gras opened its doors to merseyside teenagers on 28 September 1957

The Mardi Gras opened its doors to merseyside teenagers on 28 September 1957. The clubs walls were decorated with Beat City murals by Liverpool artist Bob Percival. The club was used for location shots in a Rank feature film in 1964. The original Mardi Gras club was demolished in 1975 and hosted acts such as The Beatles, The Big Three, Gerry and the Pacemakers and Cilla Black.
