Framed Print of Eighteen year old Bill Jones, an apprentice engineer of Hillside Cottages, Compton
Eighteen year old Bill Jones, an apprentice engineer of Hillside Cottages, Compton, Farnham, Surrey, dances the Fools Jig to an empty row of chairs in the castle grounds at Farnham. Dressed in ribbons with bells on his knees and a stick, Bill dances in the pouring rain while Mrs. Fleming-Williams fiddles for him. Bill is a member of the Farnham Folk Dancing Club, and this weekend folk dancers from all over the country had a festival at the castle. It poured with rain and the dancers had to dance inside the castle, but Bill was determined to dance in the old World setting in the castle grounds and alone, in pouring rain with only an audience of empty chairs he danced his full jig.15th June 1947. © Mirrorpix
