Sir Winston Churchills study in Chartwell House. Sir Winston loved this room
Sir Winston Churchills study in Chartwell House.
Sir Winston loved this room and it is here that he did most of his writing, the room is essentially left as he left it for the last time in October 1964.
The desk against the west wall was a gift in 1949 from his children. The large picture over the fireplace is of Sir Winstons birthplace Blenheim Palace.
Above the fireplace hangs the first Alllied flag to be flown in a captured European capital during the Second World War, it was raised by the Fifth Army in Rome on the night of June 5th 1944.
In the roof timbers is a replica of Sir Winstons garter banner which hung until his death in St Georges Chapel, Windsor.
