Pop singer Tracey Cattell of Coventry group The Primitives
Pop singer Tracey Cattell of Coventry group The Primitives, was besieged by youngsters when she opened an art exhibition in the city. The pop star opened the display of Coventry wildlife staged by playscheme youngsters in the city. Over the next two weeks, parents and friends can visit the Herbert Art Gallery to see what the youngsters have been up to during the summer holidays. More than 200 children, all under 10, joined in the daily sessions. They included visits to nature trails and water-side walks to study
insects, flowers, plants and animals in their city environment Hours of work has gone into making models of spiders, butterflies, foxes, rabbits and a giant ladybird. But the star attraction is a video of the groups visits to Swanswell Pool and the Whitefriars Monastery. It also includes a youngster playing David Bellamy.
Our photograph shows Tracey with young fan Toni McNamara (five) and other youngsters at the opening of the wildlife exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery.
