Children of St. Marys R. C. School, Coventry, are showing two types of Indian dress
Children of St. Marys R.C. School, Coventry, are showing two types of Indian dress. Narinder Kaur (11), on the right, is modelling a dress which would have been worn by a relative of the bride and Balbinder Kaur (11), models a wedding dress. This was part of a display of bright-coloured saris and traditional Indian music which brought a touch of the exotic to the school. Children from nearby Southfields Junior School, put on the display as part of an effort to bring pupils from the two schools together. They were returning a vist made by St. Marys to their school last term when they saw Irish dancing. The two schools are close together and the children live in the same streets but because St. Marys is Catholic there are no Indian pupils. Southfields is far more multi-racial. The Southfields headmaster, Mr. Dan Thomas, said the display and exhibition of work by his pupils would help the children understand each others way of life.
