Festival of Britain - 3 May- 30th Sept, 1951, in London on the South Bank. Centrepiece of the Festival was the South Bank rts complex, including the Royal Festival Hall. The idea was the brainchild of Gerald Barry as a celebration of the centenary of the 1851 Great Exhibition. Hugh Casson was the director of architecture, Robert Matthew designed the Festival Hall and Ralph Tubbs designed the Dome of Discovery
