The Mercantile Credit Centenary Trophy was an Football tournament held in the early weeks of the 1988 - 1989 season to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Football League.
The competition was played on a knockout basis, contested by the top eight sides from the previous seasons First Division.
Arsenal defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the Final held at Villa Park thanks to goals from Paul Davis and Michael Thomas.
