WW2 Holiday Crowds at Railway Station
These holiday goers found themselves turned way from their destinations by officers of the Military Police.
Holiday weekend - large rush for the coast as thousands, cheered by the news from Russia head off for the long weekend. However, some resorts were banned (Margate, Southend and Brighton for example) and holidaymakers were turned back by military police, causing huge delays and crowds. Resorts outside the military defence zone were full to capacity and beyond. 7th August 1943
