A young Geoffrey de Havilland posing in front of his plane. Born in 1882 de Havilland always had a love for flying and building aeroplanes. The de Havilland company had several succeses, not least of which was the Comet, the first jet airliner in commercial use which took its name from the original Comet, a racer which won the prestigious London to Melbourne MacRobertson race in 1934.
