Grand Duke Nicholas of Russia pictured with some of his fellow army officers. The Grand Duke fled to France in exile after the assasination of the Romanovs in Russia. By 1922 he was living in France and in November of that year Russian exiles in Paris named Nicholas as Czar, hoping that this would stir up pro monarchist feelings in Russia. Unfortunately for the Romanaovs this wasn t the case. Since then, and indeed to this day the Romanov family has been split by jealousy and fighting over which branch of the family should be the rightful heirs to the throne
