Framed Print of Debbie Gibb seen here with father Ian and Emily the baby elephat at Martins bank

Debbie Gibb seen here with father Ian and Emily the baby elephat at Martins bank Daveygate, York July 13th 1965.
Your friendly and understanding bank, Martins, is currently advertising that you can take your pet elephant into any branch while opening an account and no one will mind.
And if you think this is just the dream world of the ad-men, you re quite wrong.
Three year old Debbie Gibb went along to deposiit £ 2 at the York branch in Daveygate. And Dad Ian Gibb, curator of Flamingo Park Zoo - who went with her, told no one of their planto take Emily the baby elephant with them.
But their arrival with their two and a half ton friend didn t raise an eyebrow.
The customers just politely moved sideways to give Emily a little more room as they would for any lady with a 70 inch waist watscan - - 26/10/2009. © Mirrorpix
