Coventrys Crusader sound system which recently came tops in a city dancehall clash

Coventrys Crusader sound system which recently came tops in a city dancehall clash, has taken on a new Monday night stot at the Tic Toc Club in Prinrose Hill Street, Coventry. Crusader won a recent clash with Coventrys other giants Makabee sound system. In what was billed as dancehall clash of the year, judges decided Crusader had the best sound quality and gave value for money entertainment. It was the icing on the cake after years of hard graft to reach to the top. Now Crusader is set to reap the reward. The sound have a string of bookings lined up, including a regular spot ant the newly-re-opened Tic Toc Club on Monday nights. Tony McCook, the owner and his five-man crew - Jelly, Tipper, Dirty Harry and Farmer - said things were looking good for the future. Tony, who is on the Tic Tocs entertainment committee, says he plans to bring more reggae concerts and stars to Coventry. He said: " Sound systems started in Jamaica, in the days when hi-fis were not readily available and records were expensive. " It was a way for record compan ies to get the music to the people and the most popular sound was the one playing the latest records and had the m ost power. " Sound system is like a PA, but we used different typed of speakers and most of our amplifiers are sepecially built. " We always play for the people. When they come to hear our sound, we want them to have a good time."
