Bargain hunters descended on a Leamington charity shop in 1966 to raise a small furtune
Bargain hunters descended on a Leamington charity shop in 1966 to raise a small furtune for local youth clubs. The Bargain Box in Bath Street sold clothes, toys and books donated to Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs by well-wishers. Shoppers queued outside the shop before it opened and the first 6 hours saw £ 230 go through the tills. The shop was opened for a week and eventually went on to make around £ 1, 400 for the organisation which was expanding at the time to take on more full-time officers.
