The record breaking Vickers 142 Vivid was a two-set, general-purpose biplane with a 590hp

The record breaking Vickers 142 Vivid was a two-set, general-purpose biplane with a 590hp engine. Initially flown as a seaplane before conversion to a landplane it is seen here with Captain Neville Stack and John R Clifton prior to departures from Heston, in West London during April 1931 on the first of a series of record breaking return flights to Berlin, Copenhagen and Warsaw. The Vivid was later destroyed during a hangar fire at Broomfield Aerodrome, Chelmsford, Essex.
