Mr. Console, a Daily Mirror staff photographer flew across the Alps in a balloon in August 1912 accompanied by a Captain Spelterini.
Mr. Console started from Interlaken flying to Unter-Ammergaii, a small village in Upper Bavaria, where police detained them. After being kept under close observation for an hour and a half, the two aeronauts were released; it was presumed that it was because of the " spy" mania that existed in Germany at the time.
