Baby elephant at Winkfield: Heres Dolly who sailed from Calcutta, India and arrived at the winter quarters of Billy Smarts Circus, Winkfield Row, Near Windsor. She is 15 months old, weighs about 300 lbs and at her highest point is about 3 ft. 6ins. in height. Dolly loves carrots, bananas, oats, bran and apples with a daily dose of cod liver oil, but my what a drinker. She drinks 20 pints of milk a day apart from the odd pint that the elephant milkman at the circus gives her for being a good girl. Soon when Dolly has settled down after her voyage and change of surroundings she will be included in one of Billy Smarts Circus shows. The Elephant milkman Ernest Evans is 6 ft. 3 ins. tall just to give you some idea how small Dolly is. May 1960
