Midge the Mongrel has a False Leg: Midge, a black and tan mongrel owned by Mrs
Midge the Mongrel has a False Leg: Midge, a black and tan mongrel owned by Mrs. Rose Heaney, of 18, Camm-street, Crewe, Cheshire, seems a pretty ordinary dog. It takes a second look to see that Midges right foreleg is a false one - probably the first of its kind in England. Properly jointed and covered with hair cut from one of Midges doggy friends, it is the work of Mr. Donald Dempster, Manchester surgical appliance worker, and an interested inn keeper, Mr. Clarrie Wilson, of Rowarth, Derbyshire. Midge stands quite still while her owner, Mrs. Rose Heaney of Camm Street, Crewe, fits the false leg which, according to its inventor, may open up a new field of work among dogs similarly handicapped.
