Kenneth More - Born Sep 20th, at Gerrards Cross, England. Wanted to become a civil engineer, but the death of his father, that left a legacy of debts, ended that dream.Worked as a Canadian fur trapper, then decided to give acting a try; his first debut came at The Windmill Theatre, a venue infamous for its nude women. Several comedians made their start there. After serving in WW2 More gained a reputation as a reliable leading man in London and regional repertory. His offficial screen debut was 1948s " Scott of the Antarctic.", though he d played in several 30s films. His lead performance in " Genecieve", 1953, established him as a top notch comic actor, in the mould of the prsent day Hugh Grant. More won the BFA award for " Doctor in the House", 1954, the first of several Doctor films. However, his favourite performance was his dramatic turn in 1955s " The Deep Blue Sea". In the 1960 s, More starred as Jolyon Forsyte on the international TV smash " The Forsyte Sage". Amidst his many film, TV and theatrical performances, More found time to write no fewer than three volumes of memoirs. Kenneth Mores last film performance was as a jovial King Arthur in Disneys " Unidentified Flying Oddball", 1979, he died three years later of Parkinsons disease.
Laurence Olivier (Later, Lord Olivier.) Born Dorking, Surrey, 22nd May, 1907.Married three times, to Jill Esmond, Vivien Leigh (1940-1960 div.) and Joan Plowwright. 1930- film debut in " too many crooks" Series of roles in classic and modern plays on the London stage brought great critical acclaim over the years. Produced and directed plays at the Old Viv in particular. 1941-44, served in Fleet Air Arm, mainly in entertainment capacity, 1944-49, director of the Old Vic Company; 1945- directed first film, the hugely patriotic, " Henry V" ; 1965-73- Director of the emerging National Theatre. In total Olivier received nine Academy Award nominations and one Best Actor award for Hamlet in 1948, not to mention numerous other awards. Knighted- 1947. Made a peer- 1970 (the first actor to be given this distinction.
