Gregory Peck 1952
Filming the movie Roman Holiday
Gregory Peck - one of the postwar eras most successful actors. He was long the moral conscience of the silver screen - almost without exception, his performances embodied the virtues of strength, conviction and intelligence so highly valued by American audiences. As the studios iron grip on Hollywood began to loosen, he also emerged amongst the very first stars to declare his creative independence, working solely on movies of his own choosing. Born April 5th, 1916 in La Jolla, California. His first job was as a truck driver. Some of Pecks most famous films include - To Kill A Mockingbird (1962), Roman Holiday (1953), Cape Fear (1963), The Boys From Brazil (1978) and The Guns Of Navaronne (1961).
Roman Holiday- - Audrey Hepburn was never more captivating than in her star making film Roman Holiday. She played a young foreign princess, weary of protocol and anxious to have some fun before she is mummified by affairs of state'. On a diplomatic visit to Rome she escapes her minders and scampers incognito through the Eternal City. She meets American journalist Gregory Peck who pretends he doesn t recognise her so he can get the story. He then takes her on a tour of Rome.Naturally Peck intends to get an exclusive interview with Hepburn and his photographer is always trying to get the shot. However, Peck eventually falls in love with her, forgoing his intention of exploiting the girl. Breathtakingly shot, Roman Holiday is an unending stream of charm. Audrey Hepburn won an Academy Award for her performance and another Oscar went to the screenplay.
