This Fokker F.VIIA named Princess Xenia surrounded by crowds before leaving Baldonnel Aerodrome, Dublin on 16th September 1927 before an attempt to cross the North Atlantic from East to West.
Flown by Imperial Airways Captain Robert H M MacIntosh and Commander James Fitzmaurice of the Irish Air Corps; it failed after being forced back by a gale over the Irish coast. A year later Fitzmaurice made a successful attempt in a Junkers F.13 with a German crew.
