Blind swimmer Richard Freeman, from Woodmanstren, Surrey
Blind swimmer Richard Freeman, from Woodmanstren, Surrey, is currently training for an attempt at the English Channel. Back in 1969 Richard played a major part in a Channel relay swim, but this time he wants to make a solo attempt at what is one of the worlds most difficult swimming feats. During his preparations, Richard is getting expert help and advice from Rosemary George of Dover, Kent, who has twice swum the Channel in both directions, and Kevin Murphy, of Kenton, Middlesex, who has swum the Channel both ways non stop, and who holds the record for that other difficult swim, the Irish Channel.
