Sir Alec Rose, lone round-the-world yachtsman and founder member of the Shoreline membership scheme, named the new Blyth lifeboat Shoreline at the Dun Cow Quay on 29 October 1979. She is a 37 foot, Rother Class, with a wooden hull and is a self righting type.
