A pair of new-born lambs stand unsteadily in a field dressed in plastic macks. They were fitted with them less than three hours after arriving on a farm near Yalding, Kent. The farmer hopes that the polythene coverings will keep the lambs snug and dry during the critical first two weeks of their lives. Later, of course, the macks will be taken off. The lambs will then be quite warm enough in their sheepskin coats.
